Course description: This course is a comparative study of societies and cultures from prehistory through the Renaissance. It emphasizes the interaction between the West and teh world in order to understand the current world.

Students will interpret, evaluate and write about a variety of historical materials (primary and secondary sources, maps, charts, graphs and artifacts) to examine and assess varying perspectives. |

Students will recognize and analyze the origins, development and spread of certain of the world’s major cultural traditions. |

Students will be able to distinguish the relationship between the causes and effects of important historical events and trends. |

Students will be able to compare and contrast how certain human societies evolved and their resulting diversity. |

Students will identify and relate to the human historical experience - past, present, and future. |
