Java is a plug-in which allows certain applications to run on your system and is required by the eLearningBCC system.

For the best performance while using eLearningBCC please make sure that you have the latest supported version of Java installed.

Use the chart below to ensure that you are running the latest version of Java that is supported under eLearningBCC.

Java Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 3 is the latest version of Java that is Supported under eLearningBCC.

Windows Vista users must be running Java version "JRE/JDK 6.0" or higher. Java 1.5.x is not compatible with Windows Vista and will cause your computer to enter compatibility mode. If you are running Java 1.5.x we strongly recommend that you upgrade to JRE 6.0 or later.

Mac OSX has Java installed and when you complete a software update the Mac should grab the latest version. If you are not sure if you have the latest version of Java installed you can click on the Apple logo in the menu bar and select "Software Updates." When prompted, choose Update Now.

[edit] Disable Java Update Utility

When Java is installed the software automatically runs an update utility to ensure that your java software is kept up to date. Do not update let this utility update your Java software. Doing so could update your Java software to a version that is incompatible with eLearningBCC.

To disable the Java Update Utility follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Start menu and then click on Control Panel.

2. Click the link in the control panel titled "Switch to Classic View"
