Blackboard has created a full set of YouTube videos for faculty and students:
A VoiceThread is a collaborative, interactive, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos. It allows people to view and create a presentation and leave comments in 5 ways: using voice (with a microphone or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Typically, users would have to register for an account in VoiceThread, but BCC has purchased and integrated VoiceThread with everyone's accessBCC accounts. To log into VoiceThread, just use your accessBCC username and password.
SafeAssign is anti-plagiarism software that is integrated into the Blackboard eLearning platform. Faculty members can set up their Assignment Drop-Boxes to check submissions using SafeAssign. Students can see their own Originality Reports as a way to better understand how to properly cite sources (and to ensure they are not plagiarizing material!)
This video from Purdue University shows how SafeAssign works from a student's perspective. This video does have automatic captions.
And, this video from the City University of Seattle explains how to use the SafeAssign reports to improve your writing. This video is CC and has synced captions.
Blackboard Collaborate is a web conferencing platform (similar to WebEx, Join.me, Skype). It is integrated right into Blackboard and faculty members may use Collaborate for online office hours, online help sessions, or for real-time (live) lectures. If you are new to Collaborate, you can start here with the basics.
